Dear Colleague,
I am pleased to announce the
establishment of my new firm, providing the following services:
MARINE SURVEYOR & CONSULTANT
As president of Charles C. Deroko, Inc., I conduct
structural surveys for commercial and small craft, including Condition & Value
surveys, on & off hire surveys, damage and trip & tow surveys. I write bid
specifications for shipyard work, and oversee contract agreements as the owners
representative. I am proficient in mechanical and structural drawing.
RESEARCH & RESTORATION
I direct all phases of survey and restoration for museum
and historic vessels, including planning, research, design, construction, and project
management. I have first hand experience in the maritime trades, including machine shop
practices, oxy-acetylene burning, electric arc welding, pneumatic riveting, rigging and
wire splicing. I have worked on the restoration of steel, iron and wooden hulled vessels,
and am highly qualified in organizing and supervising skilled work crews.
I consult on State and Federal grant
proposals, providing technical and historical data, and draft budgets based on accurate
cost and materials estimates.
As Waterfront Department Head at the
South Street Seaport Museum, I was in charge of restoration and maintenance of the
following historic ships:
The German bark, PEKING (3180
gt)
The British full-rigged ship, WAVERTREE
(2180 gt)
The lightship, AMBROSE (689 gt)
The tug, W.O. DECKER (26 gt)
I also operated the Museum's
two schooners:
PIONEER (47 gt) and
LETTIE G. HOWARD (84 gt)
LICENSED CAPTAIN
I hold a current license for commercial
towing and auxiliary sail, with many years of practical sea-going experience. I am
available to conduct sea trials.
During the past twenty-five years I have
cultivated excellent professional and trustworthy affiliations with naval architects,
shipyard managers, contractors and suppliers. I look forward to discussing your projects
with you.
Charles C. Deroko,
President
